Consumer Safety Expert, Food Contact (f/m/d)  


ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT AND JOB PURPOSE
The Consumer Safety Manager, EMEA reports to the Director Product Management Specialites Products, EMEA. It is necessary to be aware of global regulations and requirements and implications to INEOS Styrolution’s global product range. There will be significant interfaces with many different nationalities, cultures and business practices. Provides necessary expertise to ensure compliance of all current products and future developments with the respective regulations (Food Contact, drinking water contact, Medical) and our strategy. Interacts internally with product development, production, marketing as well as the global regulatory team and externally with customers and industry committees on a regular basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory issues and the impact to INEOS Styrolution and its customers is critical in preparing external documents that are in alignment with INEOS Styrolution’s strategic growth initiatives and risk management tolerance
  • INEOS Styrolution operates several different production processes and vary business models (e.g. specialties vs. standard products). Therefore, a basic understanding of the core principles of each business model is necessary in order to provide aligned regulatory advice
  • At times, the position holder will be asked to present regulatory compliance related topics to internal and/or external personnel
  • The following will be part of the role as the position holder will/will be:
  • Interact with external customers on an ad-hoc basis
  • Responsible for maintaining various regulatory related compliance documents which include but are not limited to Food contact statements, Drinking water compliance statements, Drug Master Files, USP Class VI documents, etc. 
  • Monitor global developments and trends and mitigates risks with respect to regulatory constraints around the medical industry 
  • Work with global and regional Product Stewardship and product safety to develop strategies, key competencies, and processes on a worldwide basis in-house and with help of external contractors to be in compliance with regulations and customer specific requirements in the medical industry
  • Participate actively in certain industry committees to address specific regulatory concerns and trends in the plastic industry
  • Provide services for customers in our industries  and issues customer statements
  • Maintain customer/distributor regulatory database
  • Perform advisory and consultancy role in regulatory matters for the business organization
  • Provide global coordination, share information with counterparts in other regions, develop global actions and measure to address regulatory constraints and trends
  • Coordinate and assess raw material approval, manage change requests, update existing raw material documentations, and work with the regulatory team and procurement
  • Work with global and regional Product Stewardship on dossiers for various food contact legislations 

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Education/Experience

  • Graduate with scientific training, e.g. bachelor in Chemistry,  a master or PhD as a plus
  • Familiarity with food contact related issues

Technical skills:

  • Knowledge of product related regulations
  • High level of spoken and written English, German language skills as a plus
  • Good knowledge of INEOS Styrolution grade range, processes and product formulations
