FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth.

job purpose

The Commercial Adviser in INEOS FPS is a key business focussed role in sustaining and growing value through the negotiation of new entrant agreements, and the management of existing contracts.  The Commercial Adviser represents INEOS FPS externally, and holds high quality relationships with customers and other stakeholders. 

Commercial optimisation, value enhancement, and management of risk are key to the successful performance of this role in order to deliver on over half of INEOS FPS’ annual turnover.

principle accountabilities

  • Maintain and develop relationships with customers and third parties in the course of negotiations and on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure FPS customer expectations and business performance is well represented within the company when defining operational plans and activity that could affect operations and customer deliveries.
  • Negotiate and deliver new agreements and agreement amendments in line with ATN’s (Authority To Negotiate, as mandated by the Commercial Director) and commercial plans, to protect and enhance value.
  • GAEL Business Manager: Acting as interface with GAEL system users and owners, managing INEOS FPS’ interests in the GAEL System as operator within the GAEL JV (JV Management skills being critical).
  • Support identification, quantification and delivery of value options (EBITDA, cash and traditional economic metrics) for assessment of commercial opportunities by senior management / board.
  • Act as an ambassador of INEOS and of FPS in all forms of engagement, demonstrating the highest standards in the execution of all things and an ability to collaborate and co-operate to deliver on common goals.

  • Good commercial acumen and understanding of Oil & Gas Industry, both upstream and downstream.
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas infrastructure, and in particular FPS and its importance to the UKCS.
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate business information succinctly and with clarity.
  • Ability to influence peers, subordinates and managers using networking, personal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Highly enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills and ability to forge new relationships.   

qualifications and technical experience

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience of Commercial matters, with at least 3 - 5 years’ direct Upstream or Infrastructure related commercial experience
