INEOS Grangemouth recently announced the establishment of the Central Operations Support team. This new Turnaround organisation presents an opportunity to standardise our approach to TAR executions, to deliver efficiencies, and to be more effective. It also allows O&P UK assets to follow common processes, a consistent approach and coordinated methods for achieving TAR/Business goals.

As we build this new team, we are looking for an experienced Manager to join us. The Central TAR Manager will create and lead the teams which will plan and execute turnarounds on large production assets, including; associated Projects, asset improvements, supporting the delivery of performance targets set for HSE, plant integrity, reliability, quality, planned outage duration and commercial performance.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Lead the INEOS O&P UK Central TAR organisation
  • Create a turnaround execution strategy, which is aligned with the OPUK maintenance and site Turnaround procedures, to deliver the defined business targets for HSE, plant integrity, reliability, cost and duration.
  • Create in consultation with OPUK business teams, specific TAR procurement and Commercial & construction strategies to deliver the TAR event.      
  • Identify and select resources, create and lead a combined team, of INEOS and direct / sub-contracting resources to deliver the TAR Preparation and Execution phases.
  • Provide coaching for TAR Managers.
  • Create combined TAR execution plans to include all associated TAR Project works and including the Asset De-commissioning and Re-commissioning, and ensure delivery of these plans.
  • Deliver the Commissioning phase of the TAR, ensuring adequate process, project and vendor support resources are available to meet the planned schedule requirements.
  • Create a learning environment, including TAR close out reporting, that supports sustainable improvements to OPUK TAR performance.

  • Analyse specific TAR risks and create mitigation plans to ensure successful TAR execution
  • Ensure that O&P business HSE expectations, are used to influence the TAR Preparation phases, and provide personal leadership commitment, demonstrating visible, and pro-active HSE management during the TAR Execution phase.
  • Align various TAR Contractors offsite management to be actively involved in TAR Planning and Execution processes.
  • Capability to adapt and change TAR Procedures to suit the specific circumstances of each individual TAR.
  • Influence the Organisational decision making and TAR Execution strategies, associated with upstream and downstream assets, to ensure Turnarounds are delivered to the OPUK business expectations.
  • Role requires a unique blend of experience of Asset Operations, Maintenance, and Projects Management, including Construction Industry Industrial relations expertise.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Chartered Engineer, with significant experience in maintenance, TAR’s and Projects.
  • Formal Project Management qualification is desirable
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering commercial and contract management.
  • Substantial experience in cost estimating practices
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and cost management systems.
  • Knowledge of integrated site manufacturing operations and external logistics issues
  • Advanced Team Leadership skills and behaviours.
  • Maintains a network of contacts within site, INEOS and external engineering contract companies.
  • Working knowledge of industrial relations management and NAECI agreements.
  • Acted previously as TAR Manager on sizeable manufacturing assets.
  • Expert knowledge of Change Management theory and practice
  • High level of knowledge and experience in improvement techniques such as Lean or Six Sigma
