How the Role Fits in:
This role reports to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager and has responsibility for a contractor maintenance workforce.
The Main Purpose of the Role:
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of Routine and Unusual Maintenance and Inspection activities for the facility which average approximately $5MM+ per year. In addition, this position has joint responsibilities for any outages in these areas with the Operations Superintendent. Major outages occur on several year cycles and average approximately $ 3MM+. This position is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are executed in a safe and efficient manner and that repair quality is maintained to ensure mechanical integrity and reliability.
- Ensure HSE delivery and compliance for maintenance activities in the areas; serving as a champion for safe work practices for both INEOS employees and contractors working within the areas.
- Responsible for development and cost reporting for several Maintenance cost centers for both routine and unusual maintenance budgets. This includes providing monthly updates during the GFO financial process.
- Jointly responsible for improvement of overall equipment and process reliability; this includes budgeting for and supporting APIpiping and vessel inspection, CUI re-conditioning, serving as sponsor for various capital reliability projects and focus on root cause failure analysis and defect elimination.
- Ensure the effective planning and execution of TAR-related activities to include: effective use of TAR CVP; integrate capital projects into TAR plans; serve as TAR Execution Coordinator for the facility.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The position is accountable for understanding and putting into practice the INEOS 20 Principles. Additionally, the team leader has a special responsibility to cascade the understanding of these principles through their team.
Accountability 1: Safety performance in area of responsibility
- Ensures adherence to policy, procedures and practices
- Attendance at daily, weekly and monthly safety and planning meetings
- Ensures utilization of SURFcards, JSA’s, BSP’s, Gensuite
Accountability 2: Compliance with internal and external policies and regulations
- Timely completion of HAZOP, incident investigation, PSM, and other recommendations
- Ensure Inspections, RV’s, and legally required PM’s and records are current on all equipment
Accountability 3: Maintaining mechanical integrity of assets and protective systems
- Adherence to API, ASME and ANSI standards and industry practices
- Working knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection, industry standards and emerging trends
- Audit compliance with PS/IM standard and take corrective action as necessary
Accountability 4:Ensure availability of asset
- Effective maintenance planning and efficient execution of routine work
- Effective TAR planning and execution
- Lead and implement reliability projects
Accountability 5: Forecast and manage maintenance budget
- Develop annual budget
- Forecast spending pattern for the year
- Review actual costs and provide monthly variance analysis
Skills and Knowledge Required
Level of Education & Experience in general
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in chemical, refining or industrial manufacturing with prior responsibility for facilitating critical maintenance functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Effectively balance competing priorities and provide direction and leadership for their teams.
Technical skills
- Experience and knowledge of chemical operations and maintenance
- Experience and knowledge of industry standards and codes
- Experience and knowledge of OSHA 1910.119
- Experience and knowledge of TAR planning and execution
- Experience in multi disciplines (I/E, Mechanical, Analyzer, Inspection)
