Business Manager Alkoxylates

INEOS Oxide is one of the most diverse, dynamic and successful businesses within INEOS. We operate 4 manufacturing sites in Europe and North America (Antwerp BE, Köln DE, Lavéra FR, Plaquemine US). We produce a broad range of 200+ products which spread across four key value chains (Ethylene Oxide, Propylene Oxide, Oxo Alcohols and ENB), and on many of our products we are the European market leader. Our total manufacturing capacity is above 3 million tonnes per annum generating an annual EBITDA of ~300 M€. INEOS Oxide is an energetic business with an ambitious growth agenda.

The Alkox business is supported by multiple alkoxylation reactors at INEOS sites in Antwerp (INEOS Oxide’s primary manufacturing facility), Köln (INEOS’ integrated cracker complex in Germany), and Lavéra (INEOS’ integrated refinery and cracker complex in France). These alkoxylation assets sit behind our Ethylene Oxide production assets at these sites, and consequently ethoxylates constitute the majority of the current product slate. However, there is also an important propoxylation activity on the Antwerp reactors.

Business Manager Alkoxylates

The Alkox Business Manager is a key member of the INEOS Oxide business team with full P&L accountability for the business, and as such, this is a high-profile position with significant exposure to the INEOS Oxide board. The key objectives of the role fall into two broad categories:

  • to manage the current business and ensure that maximum value is extracted and delivered in the short term from the business’ existing asset base, optimising value generated across the EO and PO wedges.
  • to define, lead and implement strategic business development plans to grow the business’ cash and EBITDA performance for the future.

Although the role is part of the business team reporting to the Business Director, the Business Manager Alkoxylates will be expected to show ownership and leadership of all aspects of the business’ performance, from procurement of raw materials through to manufacturing of the finished products and onward supply and sale of those products to customers, and management of the regulatory environment. In this context the Business Manager Alkoxylates is expected to approach the role in the manner of a COO, will be fully accountable to the INEOS Oxide board for both short term trading performance and long term strategic development of the Alkox business.

Level of education & experience in general

  • 5-10 years of front-line commercial experience within the chemical industry, preferably in alkoxylation
  • Experience of leading people and teams in a diverse and dispersed working environment.
  • Fluency in English essential, French and German is an advantage.

Technical skills

  • Commercial acumen, demonstrated ability to identify and leverage sources of business value.

  • Understanding of marketing, sales and supply chain principles and practice.
