The Position: Business Controller, Transparent Specialties -This position reports to the head of business partnering Standard Products and Specialties and is the financial business partner for one of 4 (ABS, PS, SPEC enhanced, SPEC transparent) polymer units in the Americas region. The role leads the financial processes of the unit to ensure that Sales Directors and BU Leadership have clear visibility of its P&L performance, cost structure, and KPI’s and supports the business team in decision-making. This position is responsible for analyzing margins, costs, and budgets/forecasts and proactively supporting the BU in strategy and investment decisions. In addition, a key component of the role includes process improvement and implementing automation. 

What you will do:

  • Serve as the main finance contact for the respective business.
  • Monitor business and economic trends and partner with the business to plan for anticipated business changes.
  • Analysis for pricing changes based on commodity feedstock forecast. 
  • Month-end close process for the business unit and the region as required.
  • Communicate financial results to various levels of management.
  • Prepare and coordinate the monthly financial forecast and annual budget and present roll-up data to the business and regional management.
  • Work cross-functional with sales, procurement, logistics, and site operations to improve item/customer profitability.
  • Ad hoc financial modeling and analysis to support the business unit/regional/global financial goals. 
  • Implement process improvements to enhance consistency and reduce complexity across the financial and non-financial environment. 
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance for both internal policies and external reporting requirements (IFRS & GAAP) as necessary.
  • Audit requirements at the local level from all sources: Internal Audit, External Audit, or Income Tax Audit.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelors/Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or MBA, CPA 
  • 5+ years of financial planning, controlling and analysis within a manufacturing, sales, marketing, or chemical industry.
  • Segment reporting and profit center controlling / accounting.
  • SAP financial modules (FI & CO), and understanding of the integration with other modules.
  • Reporting in SAP Budget Planning and Consolidation, Business intelligence/Business Objects, Essbase, Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Cost accounting/reporting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Supply Chain, Planning and Forecasting.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI
