The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene (PP) and Polyethylene (PE).  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX.  Overall O&P USA has approximately 1300 employees, 1,400 contractors, and annual revenue of $3 to $4 billion.

How the Role Fits In:

The PE marketplace and our PE product portfolio are exceptionally diverse and require skilful understanding of the market.   The PE Business Analyst coordinates with a broad range of personnel including the PE Business Manager, the PE Product Manager, Polymers Controller, Polymers Financial Analyst, Polymers Pricing Analyst, PE Sales Director, PE Channel Sales Director, Sales team members, Product Development Personnel in conjunction with the Segment Teams, Customer Service, and Production Scheduling.  The PE Business Analyst also interfaces with Manufacturing Site personnel for Green Belt projects and for PANDA (margin analysis tool) data validation as appropriate.

The Main Purpose of the Role: 

The PE Business Analyst provides key business analyses to drive the daily operational tactics and decisions and to support the long term strategy development for the PE product line business. 

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Develop accurate price realization and rebate forecasts for the monthly GFO, weekly product line updates, and annual budget plan.  Analyze accuracy of forecasts and continuously improve.
  • Provide timely and accurate data analysis to support the PE business strategy including the PE utilization/margin curve, PE industry data and trends, PE market segment analyses, PE margin analyses for asset profitability studies, and other strategic analyses as required.
  • Provide timely analysis of market and business data to support regularly scheduled decision making meetings including:  Supply & Operations Planning, PE Asset Team, PE Business Team, strategic reviews, asset profitability reviews, and major project status reviews.
  • Provide critical support for the ATN (Authority to Negotiate) process on a daily basis through interface with the sales team to facilitate opportunity definition by sales, through interface with supply chain team on logistics cost to serve for ATN development, and through forward looking margin analysis for opening offer and walk-away points.  
  • As INEOS PE representative to ACC (American Chemistry Council), report INEOS PE data to ACC monthly.
  • Using aggregate industry data from ACC and Industry Consultants, prepare the monthly PE Industry Report for the sales team to use in discussions with customers.  Prepare other analyses for use by the sales team as required.
  • Serve as SPA for verifying/improving Panda data accuracy and performing quarterly bottom-up margin post audits.  Also perform quarterly analysis of customer adherence to contract volume commitments. 
  • Responsible to monitor daily Zemeter reports to ensure adherence to the ATN and spot sales work processes.
  • Represent the PE Business on the Segment Teams which manages product technical service and development
  • Serve as backup to perform specified responsibilities in the absence of the PE Product Manager.
  • Supports HDPE Channel sales as required
  • Participate in or lead Six Sigma Green Belt project(s) as appropriate.
  • Internal and external sales accountabilities as needed

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

Level of Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or business 
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt training is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including competency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, and Word).  Knowledge of Zemeter, SAP, and/or PANDA is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and drive to achieve accuracy.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to help colleagues adhere to business processes and procedures while progressing successful delivery of business results.
  • Inquisitive and commercially astute.
  • Good leadership and project management skills.

  • Basic understanding of many of the following:  commercial operations, sales, supply chain/logistics, procurement, technology, finance, accounting, manufacturing, and business systems.
