Assistant Accounts Payable Manager 1

Main role purpose:

The post holder is responsible for managing and leading the Accounts Payable Europe team members and entities, ensuring that balances owed to suppliers are processed such that they are accurate, valid and ready for payment on the due date

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • Provide a source of expertise on all accounts payable matters and provide first-line management for the Europe team.
  • Support the Accounts Payable Manager – UK & Europe by managing the daily workload allocation in the Europe team, completing the daily KPI reporting, and ensuring that the overdue web cycles are completed through to resolution.
  • Process invoices for suppliers who are deemed “VIP” and critical suppliers of high value for payment, ensuring that they are receipted and paid efficiently.
  • Manage all aspects of the ERS selling billing process for those suppliers, perform the self-bill run, ensuring all self-billed invoices have been correctly produced.
  • Respond to “VIP” and critical supplier queries and work with other teams to resolve issues relating to unpaid invoices, ensuring supplier disputes and queries are resolved quickly (without adversely affecting supplier relationships).

Key skills & experience required:

  • Proven experience in managing Accounts Payable teams in a shared service environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial processes and accounting systems (particularly SAP R3).
  • Deep knowledge of accounts payable in order to be able to provide advice to the Accounts Payable Team and the Procurement Team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Resilient to change and able to lead others positively through change.
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to develop others.
  • Independent and results-orientated.
  • Good interpersonal and influencing.  
  • Highly organised and focused to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
