The analytical team provides key data across the operations and technology for the Ineos operations on the Hull site. The post holder will have general analytical skills as well as being the technical expert and focal point for one or more specialised analytical techniques carried out within the analytical function. This role is part of a team responsible for supporting both the Ineos manufacturing and technology groups.
This role will work as part of a flexible laboratory-based team based in Hull and is responsible for leading the delivery of both general analytical and specialist analytical capabilities in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
As the needs of the business develop so too do the scientific and analytical requirements. The ability to develop scientific analytical solutions to emerging problems and opportunities is key for success in this role.
Laboratory based experience including the use of analytical solutions to Petrochemicals based challenges in one or more of the following analytical technique areas: Elemental Analysis, Chromatography, spectroscopy.
Accountabilities:
- Provide an analytical development and advice service alongside troubleshooting assistance as required
- Train technicians in the execution of analytical techniques and analysis
- Support the development of analytical techniques to meet the existing and future needs of customers including manufacturing teams and research programs.
- Take a lead in all HSSE issues within the analytical laboratory and contribute to the development of an HSSE culture fully aligned with the goals of Hull Technology
- Work with customers to understand analytical requirements and then either personally carry out sample analysis or oversee the execution of the agreed analytical programme
- Ensure the quality, standard and timeliness of the work carried out meets customer expectations and take proactive steps to deal with issues where they occur
- Advise customers on the most efficient delivery of the required analytical information taking costs of internal and external provision into account
- Demonstrated ability to think innovatively and provide creative solutions and ability to prioritse and set clear direction and boundaries
Level of Education & Experience:
- MSc in chemistry or analytical chemistry. 5+ years of industrial experience
Technical Experience:
- Strong understanding of a wide range of analytical technique areas and their application to industrial manufacturing processes
- Deep knowledge of the industrial process chemistry including catalysis
- Understanding of the main business drivers and opportunities for process development
- Demonstrated ability to develop new analytical techniques
- Understanding of project processes with experience of major capital projects an advantage
- Appreciation of process, mechanical, materials and engineering disciplines and experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
- Strong business and commercial acumen
