Analytical Rota Technician

Our Analytical Rota Technician is based in Hull.

About the Opportunity

We are looking to recruit an experienced technician to perform routine laboratory analysis for our manufacturing assets. To ensure that we give our manufacturing teams appropriate support our teams of Analytical Technicians utilise a shift pattern of extended days, across a 06:30 to 22:30 window. In addition, an on-call system is employed. In return you’ll receive a competitive base salary plus a generous shift allowance.

About you

Possessing a minimum 'A' levels, HNC or equivalent, including a significant chemistry element, you will already be experienced in laboratory operations and routine analysis. Some of the testing requires working on equipment/vessels which requires high level access so a head for heights is useful.

The purpose of this job is to perform routine laboratory analysis for the Hull site manufacturing assets as part of a team of rota technicians. Testing the quality of feedstocks,  in-process and final product samples against defined specifications enabling the manufacturing assets to maintain operations and final products to be sold

Accountabilities:

Comply with all SHE requirements within the analytical laboratory and contribute to the development of an SHE culture fully aligned with the goals of INEOS Acetyls Hull.

  • Maintain focus on personal safety and the safety of other. Follow all SHE procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies
  • With analytical chemists and manufacturing technicians/ engineers, use laboratory knowledge and experience to execute experimental programs that meet requirements of stakeholders
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality of data generated and recorded, complying with local QA systems and data storage standards
  • Provide preventative maintenance including calibration and troubleshooting of equipment and oversee corrective action and operational improvements as required
  • Responsibility for ordering routine chemicals and consumable items for the team

Level of Education & Experience

Technical Skills:

  • Minium of A' levels, HNC or equivalent, preferably including a significant chemistry element
  • Relevant industrial experience
  • Proficiency in working across several routine analytical capabilities such as Karl Fischer, freezing point, pH measurement, titration, chromatography
  • Proficiency in additional capabilities which may include: Elemental Analysis, Environmental analysis, Industrial Hygiene including personnel monitoring
  • Ability to record and enter detailed information accurately in IT systems
  • Ability to work with required IT systems, such as Laboratory Information Data Systems and chromatography system

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in additional capabilities which may include elemental analysis, Environmental analysis, Industrial Hygiene including personnel monitoring.
  • Ability to work at height when required
