The Position: Americas Logistics Director -This position is accountable for ensuring the cost effective, on time, and safe shipment of every INEOS Styrolution product across a complex network of owned manufacturing sites, liquid bulk and polymer terminals, third party toll manufacturers, warehouses and trans-loading facilities while minimizing our fixed and variable costs and maximizing customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

Level of education & Knowledge:

  • BS degree in supply chain management, operations management, business administration or related field with MBA preferred.
  • Seasoned Professional with a minimum of 15 years related experience and 5 in a managerial position.

Experience in general:

  • Strong background in logistics management, rail, marine, and terminal experience required
  • Extensive negotiation experience
  • Knowledge of complete supply chain from production to delivery

Technical skills:

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to synthesize data into a clear, concise picture/message or call to action.
  • Working knowledge of distribution regulations including DOT, TDG, IMDG, and Coast Guard throughout North America.
  • CPIM - APICS or related professional certification beneficial.
  • Strong leadership, facilitation of positive change, communications, team building, and conflict resolution skills a must.
  • Demonstrated analysis and business case development

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible and accountable for all logistics procurement activities and spend across all North America
  • Lead the development and implementation of logistics strategies for all inbound and outbound materials; responsible for ensuring a competitive supply/distribution advantage to support business strategies both short and long term
  • Responsible for the annual and strategic planning process for INEOS Styrolution’s freight and fleet assets including all variable distribution costs as well as fixed assets and capital leases
  • Ensure the infrastructure required to support the operating businesses is developed and implemented (barge and rail fleet size, liquid bulk terminals, storage yards, maintenance, inspection and cleaning programs, systems, car/truck specifications, etc.)
  • Manage all movements including rail, truck, deep sea, barging, ocean freight, isotainers
  • Responsible for logistics movements related to all feedstock at monomer production facilities – over 1.0M mt of Benzene and Ethylene per year
  • Manage the rail asset acquisition /disposition processes including vendor negotiations and selection
  • Member of the INEOS Styrolution Styrene business team and various polymer core teams
  • Maintain operational support for INEOS Styrolution rail fleet including:
    • Management of in-plant switch carriers (VIP, CIND, TCTRR)
    • tracing, expediting and repositioning
    • inspection, cleaning, and maintenance
    • transit time maintenance
    • asset utilization analysis and reporting
    • car records and registry maintenance
  • Lead/execute improvement projects to ensure continual improvement of service and cost.
  • Ensure the proper KPIs and progress reporting for the function as a whole. 
  • Work directly with business managers and other functions to ensure process, policy, and service issues are understood and addressed
  • Execute logistics strategies in support of business group and corporate strategies. This includes:
    • Establishing an effective organization design
    • Developing and controlling area budget and personnel matters
    • Establishing and implementing professional standards and skills including SHE standards
    • Working with various teams to ensure IT systems in place are effectively utilized
    • Understanding trends and anticipating threats to performance and initiate actions to address
  • Ensure INEOS Styrolution fully meets SHE and regulatory obligations and is in compliance with all regulatory agencies that apply to this function.
  • Represent/promote INEOS Styrolution through participation in industry and community activities.
  • Ensure that the distribution infrastructure required to support the operating businesses is developed and implemented (terminals, carrier base, systems, etc.).
  • Ensure distribution risks are properly planned for and mitigated
  • Manage the operational logistics function including:
    • Overall accountability for execution of every outbound shipment from all North American shipping locations
    • Planning, ordering, and receipt of all packaged raw materials at polymer manufacturing sites
    • rate and route management
    • invoice payment
    • claims management
  • Support emergency response function; key member of investigation team of any hazmat incident
