The Production Data Engineer reports to the Head of Operations Support and responsible for maintaining INEOS Energy’s production database which collates data from across the business and makes it available and accessible to all departments. This role takes ownership of INEOS Energy’s production database and is responsible for maintaining and developing it. As more data is added to the production database the role will expand to facilitate the use of machine learning tools to draw additional insights from the production database and databases held by other departments.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain INEOS Energy’s production database (SQL database hosted on MS Azure)
- Maintain data feeds into the database (data is primarily imported using Python scrips from csv, xlsx, pdf, and emails)
- Deliver single source, reliable and auditable production data for the business
Additional responsibilities:
- Expand access and visibility of INEOS production data across the business (e.g., Develop KPI and MS Power BI dashboards)
- Identification and implementation of machine learning potential use cases
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members
Skills & Knowledge Required
Experience
- Undergraduate degree in maths, science or engineering discipline
- Previous experience managing databases
- Experience working in the oil and gas industry would be advantageous
Technical skills
- Experience using SQL skills for data extraction and analysis and ability to develop complex SQL queries
- Experience coding in Python, or another Object-Orientated Programming language
- Understanding of data governance best practice
- Exposure to Apache Airflow and Linux CLI would be advantageous
- Experience using MS Azure Platform MS Power BI and MS Power Apps would be advantageous
- Confident user of the MS Office suite
