INEOS Tyssedal is Europe’s only producer of TiO₂ slag and high‑purity pig iron. We operate a unique and technically advanced facility that includes a 70‑meter rotary kiln, a 40 MW smelter, and a crushing plant.
With an annual capacity of approximately 210 kt of slag and 90 kt of pig iron, we are an important supplier to global industries.
We are now seeking a Head of Mechanical Engineering, who will play a key role in ensuring high technical standards, operational reliability, and compliance with requirements and regulations.
This is a central leadership position with significant influence in a complex and exciting process environment.
About the Position
As Head of Mechanical Engineering, you hold overall responsibility for mechanical engineering at the plant.
You lead a team of engineers and ensure that mechanical equipment has the right strategies, maintenance plans, and ownership. The role is essential for operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the mechanical engineering team
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards
- Develop and own strategies for mechanical equipment, inspection, and maintenance
- Approve technical changes (MOC) and ensure statutory inspections
- Lead troubleshooting, root cause analyses, and improvement initiatives
- Follow up service contracts and support shutdowns, projects, and critical deviations
- Prepare and manage the fixed‑cost budget
- Contribute to high operational reliability and equipment uptime
Qualifications
- Relevant master’s degree
- Experience from the process industry
- Leadership experience from operations, maintenance, or engineering
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and process machinery
- Familiarity with ISO systems and relevant software tools
- Six Sigma competence is an advantage
- Strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English
