Utility Operator

The Utility Operator role assists in the safe, reliable, and efficient daily operation of the chemical manufacturing facility. This position supports production activities, equipment maintenance, safety initiatives, and general plant operations while gaining a comprehensive understanding of plant systems and processes.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Follow all site safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean-shaven appearance as required for proper respirator use.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses.

 

Equipment Maintenance and Repairs

  • Perform routine mechanical tasks and minor equipment repairs throughout the facility.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and assist maintenance personnel as required.
  • Identify and report equipment concerns to improve plant performance and safety.
  • Assist in preparing equipment and work areas for maintenance work.

Facility Maintenance and Housekeeping

  • Maintain general cleanliness and organization throughout the plant to support safe operations.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks including debris removal, equipment area cleaning, and maintaining safe access routes.
  • Assist with facility upkeep including lawn maintenance, groundskeeping, and snow removal during winter conditions.

Chemical Handling and Logistics

  • Prepare trucks and unloading areas for the safe receipt of raw materials.
  • Assist with chemical transfer and offloading operations in accordance with site procedures.
  • Verify that proper safety controls and containment measures are in place during transfer operations.

General Support Functions

  • Gain a thorough understanding of plant operation including electrolysis units, chemical storage systems, utilities, and supporting infrastructure and assist various departments as needed.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the chemical production facility to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous plant operation.
  • Follow written procedures, instructions, and work permits accurately.
  • Respond to operational issues and assist in resolving plant-related concerns.
  • Perform additional operational or maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors.
