The Chemical Engineering Co-op supports Plant Operations as a part of the Technical Group. Additionally, they will assist Process engineers with projects relating to process improvement and optimization, quality improvement, capital project development and implementation, and equipment troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Students will work full time on site (40 hours/week)
- Perform process engineering projects as assigned by technical leadership
- Maintain a record of completed tasks and provide a monthly report to technical leadership
- For at least one project, present findings and conclusions to management.
- Actively participate in the INEOS Pigments Group Safety programs
Typical Potential Assignments
- Understand what Flow Diagrams and Process and Instrument Diagrams are and how they relate to process changes, upgrades and new installations. Field verifies and updates Process and Instrument Diagrams.
- Must understand the concepts in performing process material and energy balances. May be assigned to develop material energy balances for new or revised installations.
- Develop and implement changes to facility based input from Operations and Maintenance groups.
- Participate in product development trials.
- Support Plant Process Safety Management programs.
- Participate in investigation of equipment failures or equipment under-performance and design of potential solutions based on heat/mass balance, statistical, and unit operation techniques.
- Participate in all stages of Capital Project development and installation
- Participate in multi-discipline teams to support Plant initiatives in Safety, Six Sigma, Quality and Reliability.
